Fishtail Parker Interview

Fishtail Parker is a local Adelaide band that plays original music and mainly have gigs up in the Adelaide Hills.

The three-piece band have been performing together for over ten years now and have been doing all sorts of gigs with their own music as well as covering songs from other bands sometimes.

The band consists of Brett, Dave and Rick, and have had other member in the past that have left but these three have stuck it out for ten years.

Fishtail Parker performed at The Wreckers in Goolwa last Sunday the 28th of October and have an upcoming gig on November 18th at the Cuddly Creek Tavern if you want to catch their next performance.

RIVAL CONSOLES TO MAKE AUSTRALIAN DEBUT IN ADELAIDE AT MOD. — The Upside News

DJ Rival Consoles is making an Australian Debut here in Adelaide at MOD (Museum of Discovery). He will be playing here on Saturday the 17th of November. (next weekend)

The Upside Crew spoke to the event organiser about the night and they said that Rival Consoles will go head to head with Adelaide’s local DJ Tr!p. The night will consist of the electronic music and art all night. This event is a part of Rival Consoles Headlining Australian tour.

I might head down for the show with some friends for the night since it seems like a good night out especially for older teens and young adults.

Lucky Adelaide Fan onstage with Panic

The Panic at the Disco show here in Adelaide had many highlights for the fans, especially for one fan who had the opportunity to play up onstage with the band.

The lucky fan had made a sign that asked if he would be allowed to come onstage and play the drums for one of the bands most popular songs that started it all for them ‘I Write Sins Not Tragedies’ the lucky fan was noticed by the lead singer Brendon Urie in between songs.

Brendon wanted the fan to come onstage but was worried that he would not be able to hear the timing properly onstage but got him to come up anyway. The fan got to play though one run though of the chorus of the song and quickly impressed with his drumming ability. After he played with the band Brendon had admitted that they had never had someone come onstage and play drums before.

The band have had many people sing with Brendon during songs but never a drummer come onstage. Brendon was very impressed with his ability of drumming. But that was not the only lucky fan at the show that night another girl named Maddie who had also made a sign saying that it was her birthday and it was she had turned 19 that day and Brendon saw her sign and sung her ‘Happy Birthday’.

Handpicked Festival Is Almost Here — The Adelaidian

Coming up tomorrow is ‘Handpicked Festival” out at Lake Breeze Wines in Langhorne Creek. The festival has some massive headliners that are sure to get people dancing. The lineup looks amazing with some local Australian artists that I personally love and will definitely be in my playlist next month.

Personally I wish I could attend however I have other plans even though once I saw the line up I was desperate to go. I had already payed for the tickets to what I am going to on the same night. Anyway I know some of my friends will be attending ‘Handpicked’ and they all seem pretty excited and can’t wait. I’ll hear all the details of the festival from them, so I’ll be stalking their snapchats all night to feel like I am at the festival.

Interview with Gravity

Gravity is a local Adelaide party band that plays all sorts of hits from the past and present, from pop hits to classic party rock. They have a song for everyone. The five piece band have been around for three years playing all sorts of gigs at pubs, parties and events. Aaron Lloyd is the lead guitarist of the band, he has been playing with them for just over a year and has been playing music for many years before joining Gravity.

Gravity performed at the Somerset Hotel on the 22nd of September and also recently performed at the ‘Aussie Era Car Show‘ at the Salisbury City Centre. The band have two upcoming performances one is this Saturday the 10th of November at The Gawler Arms Hotel, from 9:00pm to 1:00am and the other is the 8th of December at The Clovercrest Hotel for ‘Xmas at the Clovey’ from 7:30pm – 11:30pm.

The Royal Adelaide Show

The royal show has been a tradition for me ever since I was little I went almost every year. I aways went with my mum and grandma when I was little and as I grew up it became and day/night out with friends.

This year was no different going in with my friends to spend the day there and go on the rides and catch up. Well it was the same up until a few days beforehand when I ended up in hospital because of pain in my abdomen. I was in there overnight three days before we were going to the show. I was released the next day but not until late, I was asked if I was still going to be able to go to the show by my friends and family but I really wanted to catch up with my friends.

I persisted and went to the show on the last Saturday anyway and I didn’t really have a problem with the pain in my stomach while I was there however I didn’t want to go heaps of rides just in case they hurt me more than I was already and I needed to go home. However, this made me realise how many rides at the show were not really suitable for my condition.

I was only willing to go on a few rides because of this which upset some of my friends because a few of them wanted to go on some of the bigger rides with me however I couldn’t because I didn’t want to risk hurting myself more. My friends split up a lot during the show this year where the guys went to go on the big rides and myself and another friend were doing some of the easier rides and two of the others in the group went to look at the markets and stalls because they both weren’t really into the rides there.

We all met back up later on in the day to watch the stunt cars and bikes before we went off to wander the show bag hall and look at the market stalls. We all went to get dinner by the time we were done and went to go get our seats for the fireworks later on. We waited and watched all of the shows in the arena until the fireworks started. The fireworks are always one of the best parts of the show for me and my friends as well all love watching them and getting to sit around and catch up while we wait.

The show was a great day and night out for me and my friends even though our group was originally seven of us and when we left there was only four of us because a few people in our group met up with other friends and one of our friends went home early because they didn’t feel well. The day was still a great time even though I had been in hospital beforehand.

Panic! at the Disco

Last Tuesday night Panic! at the Disco played here in Adelaide. The high energy performance and the hyped crowd made for great performance.

I got the full experience of the concert by lining up since 9:30 in the morning with my friends who had actually camped out overnight in line so we could have a good spot for the show when doors opened at 7pm.

Not only did I line up all day but I also helped fellow people in line create posters for the show as well as handing out rainbow coloured paper hearts so people could hold them up and shine a light through them during the show to show support for the LGBTQI+ community during the song Girls/Girls/Boys.

Now doing all this lead me to being able to meet the supporting act E^St (East), her performance before the show was amazing with such high energy and dancing both from her and the crowd, especially during her cover of ‘Gives you hell’ by The All-American Rejects. (East is the one in the green pants in the group photo)

It also lead me to being able to meet Panic! at the Disco’s manager Zack Hall, when he came out to meet fans and give the two girls who had been lining up the longest a drum skin that had been signed by all of the band members.

The countdown started 10 minutes before Panic! were to come onstage to play and the crowd could not wait. They opened with ‘(Fuck A) Silver Lining, the first song on their newest album, ‘Pray For The Wicked’. Which being in the pit with every person around me singing and screaming I could barely hear the Brendon Urie singing.

Brendon Urie the lead singer of Panic! awed crowd members with his amazing vocals and how easily he was able to reach the high notes during the songs. He was even let one of the audience members who had created a sign saying “Can I please drum for Sins?”, one of the bands biggest hits. He got to go on stage and play the chorus of ‘I Write Sins Not Tragedies’ with the band. Brendon also noticed another fan, the one I helped make the sign for, who’s birthday it was named Maddie and he sung Happy Birthday to her.

They ended the show with one of their hits ‘Victorious’ from their last album ‘Death of a Bachelor’. It ended with shots of the confetti cannons which sent gold and white confetti raining down on the crowd.

Overall the show was amazing from the events before the show and during the concert. Brendon was truly an amazing live singer and performer with his signature backflip during ‘Miss Jackson’ to his amazing high notes in ‘Say Amen (Saturday Night)’ and ‘Death of a Bachelor’ as well as adding in many ad lib high notes throughout the show.

Holey Moley!!!

My friends and I decided to check out Holey Moley Golf Club on Saturday night on the 4th of August.

The night was a blast for all of us from getting to go through the experience of each hole from the ‘Upside Down room’, the ‘Willy Wonka Factory’ and even through ‘The Simpsons lounge room’.

Each hole was different and each was a new experience, as a group we had chosen to do all 18 holes that are offered and during some of the holes the ball can go up and over you on the next part of the hole and some you have to play pinball with the golf ball before you can even start swinging.

Throughout the course we even had drink holders so that our drinks from the bar can rest while each person has their turn instead of getting friends to hold our drinks. I personally recommend  the ‘Sugar Caddy’ cocktail that my friends and I got, if you are into something sweet.

Holey Moley Golf Club was a great night out for my friends and I, although it was very busy on the Saturday night and was sometimes hard to get through each hole but overall it was a good experience and would be great during the day for families and kids when it is less busy and no need to rush through the course.

I highly recommend this place to people who want a night out or even are looking for a place to take their kids.
